About this notebook
Notes from real maintenance work
Fieldwork is an independent notebook about maintaining small, useful systems. It focuses on the unglamorous parts: labeling cables, recording settings, checking restore paths, and making a setup understandable six months later.
How the notes are written
Each note starts with a specific maintenance task. Recommendations favor common tools, reversible changes, and checks that can be repeated without specialist equipment. When a choice depends on the building, the hardware, or the amount of downtime available, that constraint is stated rather than hidden.
Corrections
Technology changes, and a procedure that was sensible last year may need revision. Older notes are updated when a safer or simpler method becomes available. The aim is not to collect more features; it is to leave fewer surprises.
